Jan 4- Celestun

It wouldn't be a Brenner vacation without getting on a boat.  We headed to Celastun to see the pink flamingos and other waterlife.

The flamingos migrate between Cuba and the Yucatan.  The birds are white, but the mangrove trees emit an algae that the birds consume which turns them pink.

We passed bird island where we saw tons of other birds, including a beautiful blue egret.  Bird island also had a lot of butterfly chrysalis hanging near the water.

Riding though the mangroves we learned that there are three types of mangroves: black, red, white.  They all live together here, but obviously the red ones are the ones that turn the water red.

After the boat tour, we headed to the beach for some ceviche and a little swimming.

The squid, shrimp, and fish ceviche was awesome!
Brandy and John hit the water after we ate..

The teenagers just chilled..

We didn't spend too much time at the beach since we have one at home.  We packed up and requested a couple stops in small towns on the way home.
