Jan 2- Cenotes Xbatun and Dzonbakal

Our day started by heading south to a couple of cenotes which are basically sinkholes with underground rivers.  The water is remarkably clear.  We had a blast swimming and exploring as well as looking at the farming villages where the cenotes are located.

The first stop was Xbatun.

We had to hike down a bit to get to the cenote.   This was the view from the top.

We saw some fish in the water.

We jumped off the rocks a few times.  The water underneath the dropoff was probably 20 feet deep.  The hole went back 120 feet and was about 30 feet tall.

John and Gillian both caught some fist with their hands.

The next Cenote was Dzonbakal.  It was a little deeper from a hiking perspective and had a lot of bats.

There were also some fish that would nibble on your skin if you sat still long enough.
